Just who is deborah?
Thank you so very much for stopping by my little store on the web. Let me introduce myself. My name is Deborah. I am 50 years young and live in Clover, SC with my mother, sister, and brother-in-law. Thank the heavens I am able to say I am single, but that is a whole other story. Besides the 2 legged (1 legged in my case) humans in the house we have 4 dogs. Yes 4 yappers that drive me insane but I don't know what I would do without them. They are very talented little doggies, they love to sing and it is a sight to behold. I have tried so many times to get a video of them singing, but the minute I walk into the room they stop! I will get it one day and Ii will share when I do.
After a very long illness I had to move from Southern California to Clover because I had gotten to the point I was unable to care for myself. Unfortunately my right leg had to be amputated below the knee. I found myself with a lot of time on my hands and was going crazy because I was always a workaholic and severe depression was setting in. Before my illness, I had not missed a day of work due to illness in 10 years. To keep my sanity, I decided that I was going to do something that I had always wanted to do but never had the time to do That something was quilting. So that is exactly what I did. I took some classes, watched lots of videos, joined many Facebook groups and was well on my way to creating beautiful things.
Quilting led me to embroidery and I purchased my first machine that did them both. At the time I purchased Petula she was the top of the line mack daddy of machines. Now my studio has 2 machines, both Baby Lock. I have the Ellisimo Gold II, and the Elure plus. Both sewing and computerized embroidery machines. In my bedroom I have a brother embroidery and a quilting machine. Those are for the nights that I just can't sleep.
The next path in my journey is the one that hooked me. I made a quick tote one day and I was so hooked. I began searching the internet for patterns and tutorials. I made many of the bags and my skills grew. I started designing my own bags. I would read a pattern that I had found somewhere and put my own little twist on it. When I list one on Queen Bee Dezinz I always give credit to the original designer but give it my own name because I did change the pattern.
Then came this site, Queen Bee Dezinz by Deborah. I am the Queen Bee. Because of my disability I am unable to travel around to the croft shows. If I had someone that could go with me then I could do it. But i don't so I opened this store to share my craft with the world.
I am a one person team. I do all of the shopping, designing, cutting, sewing, and sweating. My mother is my go to person if I can't decide on which direction to take a design. I will usually listen to her. My mother and my sister are my quality control. They inspect each finished product to make sure I got all of the threads snipped, buttons on, etc.
I do keep many of the bags that I design and make for myself. I get asked about my bags often when I am out and about. DO NOT EVER go to a fabric store with me, even if I say I only need to run in real quick. We will be there for hours!
So, there you have it in a nutshell. I live a simple life and quite enjoy what I am doing. Feel free to drop me a note should you have any questions. I would love to hear from you, praises and criticisms.
Again, welcome and than you for your visit.
